WILLIAM WEGMAN’S PAINTS! VARIOUS FIELD TRIPS ARE INCLUDED IN OUR SEMESTER.
(1 hour, 30 min.) (Min. 4/ Max 12)
This studio class is a place for students to use the artistic process as a means to make choices to express who they are as individuals.
Students are introduced to modern and contemporary artists using a wide variety of media and techniques including: paint, specialty pencils, pastels, charcoal, blending tools, clay, wood, plaster, wire, fabric, stop-motion animation and more. Students also learn techniques to recreate what they see through live model drawing (clothed) and still life. There will be a focus on portfolio building for older students. Please visit the Art Adventures page for more information.
Myriad museums and galleries of NYC provide us with ample ideas from which to create, keeping our curriculum current with the art world of today. Students take 2 trips to U.E.S. galleries and Museums during the semester to be inspired in their own processes. Visiting contemporary artists also share their techniques in this class. Sketchbooks are kept in class to reinforce topics and to record development throughout the year.
