These past two weeks took us on an Art Adventure exploring new mediums! We were introduced to acrylic gel medium to transfer printed images from a newspaper and onto our acrylic paintings. We also got a sneak peek/ mini- intro to gold leaf and the process of gilding!
Our Adventurers exhibited so much patience in the paper removal process!
Tres bien! Our results are worthy of a gallery display. Visit our GALLERY here!

The holiday season is in full swing! In celebration, we played with color.
Our Art Adventurers explored color mixing by making their own age appropriated color wheel with watercolors!
Primaries, Secondaries, Tertiaries…oh my!
We then took inspiration from the Bauhaus painter, Wassily Kandinsky & created our version of his concentric (bulls-eye) circle color studies.
But included some radiating Hanukkah Lights!
We’re taking our Art Adventure, Studio, and Mini’s classes to the Met this week! Its all about exploring all the different art movements, forms, processes and cultures that the museum has to offer while creating fun and exciting art projects ….in front of famous ART!
This adventure brings us to a few spots @ The Met:
Example of an Adire Eleko Patterned Cloth
The art of Africa with our 5-7 year old classes, which also coincides with our in-class project inspired by the Adire Eleko textile Art of Yorubaland!
Ellsworth Kelly, Spectrum V @ The Met!
The Modern Wing with our 2-4 year olds classes, exploring color, shape, and line!
and some new exhibits just opened with our older Studio class!
We can’t wait to see what our Art Adventurers create at The Met! Stay tuned.
In the meantime, see some past Museum Tours with CCA HERE!
We explored Abstract Art, the difference between warm and cool colors & decoupage when creating our Abstract Mosaic Paper Paintings! While our Mini Art Adventurers created Heart Cards, Our older Art Adventurers created more abstract landscape work…
CHECK OUT ALL THE HEART in OUR ART HERE!
Our 2 year old Art Adventurers jumped right into curves, zigzags and straight lines in last week’s project. Continuing to develop those fine and gross motor skills, we played with crayons and liquid watercolor to create these “magical” wax resist watercolor paintings.
Try it at home! All you need are crayons, watercolor paints and a brush. Be specific: Feel what a straight line does, how the body movements change with a curved line or spiral, or what it takes to actually make a zigzag (lots of self control, starting and stoping!) Make an abstract drawing, overlapping lines, or a spooky scene for the Halloween festivities for older children!
