Frieze is Back in London for 2012!

Frieze_i-001

We at Claire’s Creative Adventures love Contemporary Art so we are very excited that Frieze London opens to the public today for its 10 edition, running October 11th – October 14th!  Located in Regent’s Park, Frieze is housed in a bespoke temporary building with lots of natural light designed by the architects Carmody Groarke.  Frieze London consists of 175 carefully selected galleries from 35 countries and is one of the few fairs to focus entirely on contemporary art and living artists.  Frieze consists of three parts: the main gallery section, Focus, and Frame.  Focus is new to Frieze and includes galleries opened in or after 2001 showing up to three artists.  Frame is dedicated to galleries less than six years old and consists of a selection of 25 such galleries showing solo artist presentations.  This year Frieze also introduced Frieze Masters, a sister fair that looks at historical art through a contemporary lens.  Included in Frieze London is also the Frieze Projects programme: a series of talks, film projects, and artists’ commissions intended to facilitate viewer engagement with the art, and the Family Space.

While we will not be able to attend Frieze in London this year, there are many ways to stay up to date with the happenings at the fair.  ArtInfo, GalleristNY, The Guardian and The New York Times all have sections dedicated to Frieze London 2012.

Want to see some of the contemporary art being offered at Frieze London, check out the GalleristNY slide show!

And don’t forget, Frieze will be back in New York for their second year of Frieze New York in May!
